The first open-source sortation throughput benchmark — and the dataset behind the 24,000/hour headline.
In 2023, Sortons published the industry's first open-source sortation throughput benchmark: a measurement protocol, a reference SKU profile library, and the raw dataset from 4,200+ deployed sort points in 38 countries. Released under CC-BY-4.0, it has since been cited in 60+ academic papers.
The 2024 release of the benchmark coincides with MHI Performance Certification for our cross-belt family at 24,000 items/hour peak throughput — verified, SKU-named, and reproducible on request.
